Choosing the right wheelchair

All our Wheelchairs were chosen for their ability to improve quality of life.Choosing the right wheelchair can enable you to socialise and go out with friends and family Before making any decision it is helpful to understand there are many different types of wheelchair that any mobility retailer can offer you. Manual Wheelchairs are available in two main types, those with big rear wheels and those with small rear wheels.
  • Wheelchairs with the larger rear wheels are designed for users to be able to propel themselves.and remain independent, please note you will need sufficient strength and movement in your arms to use a self-propelled wheelchair
  • Wheelchairs with the smaller rear wheels, including the transit and travel models are designed to be pushed. They can prove trickier than larger-wheeled chairs to mount obstacles such as kerbs.
If you are buying a wheelchair for a relative, be aware that some people are reticent about the idea of using one
